◆Speaker: Martin Hsu

Marin Hsu is an Asian American artist living and working in San Francisco, CA.

He graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Animation from California State University in Fullerton, and worked professionally as a character designer for Nickelodeon and Disney TV Animation. His original creation, Ruby Gloom is now an animated series on Amazon.

After years of being employees, he changed his career path to be an independent artist and designer. Martin's design work has been commissioned by corporations such as Facebook, Google, Amazon, and Saatchi & Saatchi. His illustrations have been published by Viz Media and Abrams NY, and showcased at the Museum of Science, Miami and the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. His artwork can also be found at Disney WonderGround Gallery in Disneyland.

Being an artist/creator as living is not easy, and in this talk, Martin Hsu shared with us his 10+ experience of being an independent artist.

◆Three main subjects he shared:

✸Making Art.
➜What kinds of art you want to do? What kind of art/products your clients want to buy? How to make a creative plans for a new year?

✸Making Money.
➜How to price your art? How to choose which kinds of products to sell? What kinds of opportunities you can promote your art?

✸Keys of Success.
➜Who are you? What kinds of subjects that you’re passionate about? Don’t forget to take care of the artist in your heart and keep producing art, promoting art and repeating the cycle.

◆1-1 portfolio review:

Martin had 1-1 portfolio review with each attendees. He looked through their artwork and gave useful information and advice.

講師介紹:

Martin Hsu (徐鈺樺),現居舊金山的獨立藝術家。

畢業於加利福尼亞州立大學動畫藝術學士學位
曾經在知名動畫公司尼克兒童頻道 (Nickelodeon)
和迪士尼電視動畫公司(Disney TV Animation) 擔任角色設計師。

離開公司環境後成為獨立藝術家
涉獵領域有插畫、設計、動畫、繪本、公仔設計、品牌IP... 等
與他合作過的客戶有Google、Facebook、Amazon、Saatchi & Saatchi...等多家知名企業。

而他的作品有
Facebook上的貼圖「龍仔」(Dragon Boy)
以及由他所創作角色的動畫影集 Ruby Gloom!

他在世界各地參與過各個展覽
也參與三麗歐、華納兄弟以及迪士尼等知名國際企業所舉辦的畫展
在迪士尼官方商店內也可以買到他的插畫作品!

出生於台灣的他,創作融合亞洲與西方文化,變成他的風格旗幟。
作品總是帶點童趣巧思,讓人感到溫暖,看了會心一笑。

Angie Hu

Angie is a serial entrepreneur, artist agent, consultant, designer, artist, and founder of Hu Creates Limited based in Taipei, Taiwan. She had graduated from Illustration/Entertainment Design major in Art Center College of Design ( Pasadena, Los Angeles). Angie is also a former concept artist and designer in Zynga LA and Disney Consumer Products. With her multi-skills and working experiences in the industry, Angie is also an artist agent to help artists exceeding their potentials. Her company Hu Creates Co., Limited is a licensing agency representing a group of talented artists with viral content.

For personal works, Angie is obsessed with doing cat arts, bright and fun illustrations with childlike and whimsical styles.

Hu Creates Limited 創辦人/概念設計師/插畫家/講師/顧問/策展人/藝術經紀。

畢業於洛杉磯 Art Center College of Design設計藝術中心學院。

曾任迪士尼、社交遊戲大廠Zynga資深概念設計師與UI設計師,

並利用業餘時間承接歐美娛樂圈相關美術與設計案件與經營個人品牌。

2016年回台後成立Hx2 Studio,參與歐美與中國大陸遊戲動畫設計案,與舉辦大型設計藝術相關活動。2019轉型為獨資公司Hu Creates Limited,2020年轉為做圖像代理授權,代理藝術家不二馬大叔、新夭、Jay Rock..等等藝術家作品,協助優質IP推廣海外市場。
